I didn't learn leadership from good leaders.

I learned it from twenty years underneath bad ones. Most leadership advice is written from the summit. This is written from where you're actually standing.

Who I am

I'm John Sharpe. I run cyber operations for a well known distribution company, where I'm building a security organization from the ground up. Before that: the U.S. Air Force, where I was one of the first few hundred people in the Cyber Warfare Operations career field, and fifteen years of building and rebuilding security teams. I've been the analyst nobody listened to, the team lead who got frozen out for being too loyal to his people, and the manager who had to ask thirty people already halfway out the door to give me ninety days. I'm a husband and a father, and I don't believe you can be one person at work and a different one at home.
